Community Guidelines
Effective date: October 27, 2026
Headed Out Local helps adults find things to do in their community. These guidelines explain what belongs on the platform. They are part of our Terms of Service and apply to everyone: users, businesses, organizations, and advertisers.
Who Headed Out Local is for
Headed Out Local is for adults 18 and older in the United States. It is built for the people who decide where to go and what to do, for themselves and for their families.
Family-friendly events: aimed at parents, not kids
Family-friendly and kid-friendly events and ads are welcome. They must be written for parents, guardians, and other adults deciding whether an event is right for their family.
- Allowed: "Family movie night in the park. Bring a blanket and the kids."
- Not allowed: Listings or ads written to appeal directly to children, or that encourage minors to download or use the app.
Events we welcome
Any lawful, real event open to the public or to a defined audience, including:
- Live music, festivals, fairs, and community celebrations
- Food, drink, and restaurant events
- Classes, workshops, talks, and networking events
- Sports, fitness, and outdoor activities
- Church, school, nonprofit, and civic events
- Family-friendly events, as described above
Events we don't allow
- Events that are illegal, or that promote illegal goods, services, or activities
- Sexually explicit or adult-entertainment events
- Events that promote hate, harassment, or violence against any person or group
- Events that promote dangerous activities or self-harm
- Fake, misleading, or bait-and-switch listings
- Events that violate alcohol, tobacco, cannabis, gambling, or firearms laws. Age-restricted events (such as 21+) are allowed only when the listing clearly states the age requirement.
- Private gatherings at personal residences, unless hosted by a business or organization account
Ads
Ads follow the same rules as events, plus:
- Ads must be truthful and must not make claims you can't support.
- Ads must not target or appeal directly to minors.
- Ads for alcohol or other age-restricted products must follow applicable law and clearly state any age requirement.
- Every ad is labeled "Sponsored." Don't design an ad to look like a regular event listing or part of the app.
Keep listings accurate
Businesses and organizations are responsible for their listings. Keep dates, times, locations, and prices current, and update or remove a listing promptly if an event changes or is canceled.
Use only content you have the right to use
Post only photos, logos, and text you own or have permission to use. Don't use photos of identifiable people in ads without their permission.
Respect other users
Don't:
- Harass, stalk, threaten, or intimidate anyone.
- Use someone's "Going" activity to follow, track, or confront them.
- Impersonate a person, business, or organization.
- Create accounts for anyone under 18, or more than one personal account to get around a suspension.
How we review and enforce
We review every event and ad before it appears on Headed Out Local. We may decline, remove, or limit any content, or suspend or close any account, if we consider it objectionable or inconsistent with these guidelines. Repeated or serious violations will lead to permanent removal.
Our review checks whether content fits the platform. It does not verify that an event is safe, accurate, or lawful, and it is not an endorsement.
Report a problem
Use the in-app Report option on any event, ad, or profile, or email info@headedoutlocal.com. Tell us which content is involved and why. Use the same options to report a user you believe is under 18, or content you believe is defamatory, violates your privacy, or infringes your rights.
Copyright complaints follow the process in Section 17 of our Terms of Service.
