Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 27, 2026

1. Who we are
EWMsolutions, LLC, doing business as Headed Out Local ("Headed Out Local," "we," "us") operates the Headed Out Local app and website (the "Service"). This policy explains what information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices you have. It is part of our Terms of Service.
2. Adults only, United States only
The Service is intended only for adults 18 and older who live in the United States. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. See Section 13 for what happens if we learn a minor has provided information.
3. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account information: name, email address, password, date of birth (to confirm you are 18 or older), and optional profile details such as a photo or username.
- Zip code: collected at signup and used only to fill your events feed when you have not chosen a location or drawn a region.
- Areas of interest: the points, regions, and areas you select or draw on the map.
- Event activity: events you mark as "Going", save, or share, and accounts you follow.
- Reports and support requests: information you send us when you report content or contact us.
Business and advertiser information
- Business or organization name, contact details, the name and role of the person managing the account, and Authorized Sources you designate for event monitoring.
- Event listings and ads you submit or that we create from your Authorized Sources.
- Billing information. Purchases are made on our website, and payments are processed by Stripe. We do not receive or store full card numbers.
Information collected automatically
- Location: if you grant permission, your device's location while you create areas or search for places on the map, to suggest nearby places. Your feed is based only on the areas you choose or your zip code, not your device location. See Section 4.
- Device and usage information: device type, operating system, app version, push notification token, IP address, crash logs, and how you interact with the app (such as screens viewed and events tapped).
Information from age signals
Where required or supported, we may receive an age range or age-verification signal from Apple or Google. We use it only to confirm you are 18 or older and to comply with law.
4. How we use location
We use location information only to show you events in the areas you choose. Specifically:
- The points and regions you select or draw on the map.
- If you have not selected any areas, the zip code you gave at signup.
Device location for map suggestions. If you grant location permission, the map uses your device's current location while the app is open and you are creating an area or searching for places. This lets it center the map and suggest places near you. We use device location only for this purpose. We do not use it to choose the events in your feed, and we do not store it on our servers. To return search results, your device location is shared with our map provider, Mapbox, which handles it under its own privacy terms.
We do not track your movements, collect location in the background, or build a history of places you have been. If we ever change this, we will update this policy and ask for your permission before collecting location in a new way.
Location permission is optional. You can deny it or turn it off in your device settings and still create areas by searching or drawing on the map. You can change your selected areas or zip code at any time in the app's settings.
5. How we use information
We use the information we collect to:
- Create and manage your account and confirm you meet the age requirement.
- Show events and ads relevant to your selected areas.
- Operate social features, such as following and "Going."
- Send push notifications and emails you have opted into, plus account and legal notices.
- Review, create, and publish event listings and ads, including from Authorized Sources.
- Process payments for business accounts.
- Keep the Service safe, investigate reports, prevent fraud, and enforce our Terms.
- Understand how the Service is used and improve it.
- Comply with legal obligations.
We use age-signal data from app stores only for age verification and legal compliance, not for advertising or any other commercial purpose.
6. Public profiles and "Going" visibility
Profiles are public by default. You can make your profile private at any time. While your profile is public:
- Other users can see your profile information and request to follow you. You decide who can follow you.
- Your followers can see events you mark as "Going", including the event's name, date, time, and location. If you share an event with your followers, they may receive a notification about it.
This can reveal where you plan to be. You can make your profile private, remove followers, or block users at any time in your privacy settings. These changes apply going forward and do not undo what others have already seen.
Business and organization profiles, event listings, and ads are public.
7. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share information only as follows:
- With other users, as described in Section 6, based on your profile settings.
- With service providers who help us run the Service, under contracts that limit their use of your information to providing services to us (Section 8).
- With Hosts and Advertisers, in aggregate only. We may share summary statistics, such as how many users viewed or marked "Going" on an event. We do not give Hosts or Advertisers your name, email, or location.
- For legal reasons, when we believe disclosure is required by law, subpoena, or court order, or is necessary to protect the safety, rights, or property of any person, including in an emergency.
- In a business transfer, such as a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this policy.
- With your consent or at your direction.
8. Service providers
We use third-party providers for hosting, databases, push notifications, maps, analytics and crash reporting, payments, website delivery and security, and email. Current providers include: Supabase (hosting and database), Expo (app platform and push notifications), Mapbox (maps and place search), Stripe (payments), Cloudflare (website hosting, content delivery, and security), Resend (account and notification emails), and Microsoft (business email).
9. Ads
Ads on the Service are sold directly by us to businesses, labeled "Sponsored," and shown in your events feed. An ad appears only when the area its advertiser selected overlaps an area you have set to see events. We do not target ads based on your browsing, activity, or other personal information, and we do not use third-party advertising networks or track you across other companies' apps and websites.
10. How long we keep information
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes in this policy:
- Account information: while your account is active. After you delete your account, we delete or de-identify it within 30 days.
- Age confirmation: we keep your date of birth while your account is active to confirm you meet the age requirement.
- Business billing records: as long as required for tax and accounting purposes, typically 7 years.
- Backups and legal holds: residual copies in backups are overwritten on a 90-day cycle. We may keep information longer if required by law or to resolve disputes and enforce our Terms.
11. Deleting your account and your choices
- Delete your account in the app's account settings, or by emailing info@headedoutlocal.com.
- Access or correct your information in your profile settings or by contacting us.
- Location: turn off location permission in your device settings.
- Push notifications: turn them off in your device settings or the app's notification settings.
- Emails: use the unsubscribe link in any marketing email. You will still receive account and legal notices.
- Profile visibility: switch between public and private, remove followers, or block users in your privacy settings.
State privacy rights. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of your personal information, and to opt out of the sale of personal information, targeted advertising, or profiling. We extend these rights to all users in the United States. To make a request, email info@headedoutlocal.com. We will verify your identity before acting and respond within the time required by law. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights. If we deny your request, you may appeal by replying to our decision.
12. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information, including encryption in transit. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a breach affects your personal information, we will notify you as required by law.
13. Children and minors
The Service is not directed to children or to anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. Events and ads on the Service may be family-friendly, but they are directed to adults who decide what is right for their families.
If we learn that we have collected personal information from someone under 18, we will suspend the account and delete that information within 10 days. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has used the Service, contact us at info@headedoutlocal.com and we will act promptly.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you in the app or by email before they take effect, and we will ask for your consent where required by law. The "Last updated" date at the top shows when it was last revised.
